Renzo Colombo (France, Italy, 1856-1885) bronze bust of Napoleon Bonaparte, mounted on a green marble base with gilt stand. Signed “R. Colombo, 1885.” Bronze. Nice overall condition, has an excellent dark brown patina. 18 in. high x 13 in. wide x 10 in. deep. Stand is 10 in x 10 in. Entire height, on stand, comes to 20 inches. Weight: 38 lbs.
This piece is unusual without the eagle and features a gilded rosette and palm decal.
Colombo’s pieces have sold at Sothebys and Christies. This sculpture has been a valued possession in our office showroom, since the early seventies.
Renzo Colombo was born in Milan, Italy in 1856. After attending the Brera Academy of Fine Art, Colombo worked in Rome. He created busts, medals and monuments, throughout his brief life.
