North West Canada 1885 medal clasp Saskatchewan (W. Gilpin, Const. N.W.M.P.)

William Gilpin is confirmed in both the medal and clasp in Don Klancher’s book.  Gilpin was born in 1864 and engaged with the North West Mounted Police in Winnipeg on 1883/07/19. He was from Rapid City, Manitoba and was 19-years-old, when he joined.  He served a five-year-term and left the N.W.M.P. in 1888 when his term had expired.  He requested leave in 1888 to attend the funeral of his brother who had died while working for the Canadian Pacific Railway in Gravenhurst, Ontario.  Please NOTE * this is an early copy/replica Saskatchewan clasp.  Gilpin’s service file can be found at the following link:

Medal is original, with correct naming and nicely toned, nearly extremely fine.
