Coronation 1911 medal, Scottish Police (P.C. N. Darroch.) good very fine
‘PC N. Darroch’ is to a City of Glasgow Police officer called Neil Darroch.
Born around 1853 in Kilchoman, Island of Islay in Argyllshire. He was a PC in the Census of 1881, aged 28 and married to Sophia. He was still a PC in 1891 and 1901. Likely given the medal for ‘Long and Meritorious Service’ not long before his retirement.
His City of Glasgow Police personnel record is available at the Mitchell Library in Glasgow. His birth, death, marriage and children (at least 5) are all easily found in Ancestry.co.uk and scotlandspeople websites.
