British War medal (408471 Pte J.W. Johnston, 5 -C.M.R.) K.I.A. Oct 30, 1917 (From Waubaushene). James William Johnston was born in England but living at Waubaushene when he attested with the 37th Battalion. He arrived in France April 9 1916 and on the 16 September 1916 he was hit by a shell and suffered a concussion and shock. He was reported Killed-in-Action 30 October, 1917. He was 32-years-of-age. Very fine, with original silk ribbon.
