Order of the British Empire (1st type Civil); St. John Ambulance Officer’s breast badge; 1902 Coronation medal in bronze; 1911 Coronation medal (M.J.B. Campbell); 1935 Jubilee medal (M.J.B. Campbell); 1937 Coronation medal; Poland Cross of Merit in gilt and enamels. Contained in a leather case “Minnie J.B. Campbell, O.B.E.” embossed on the inner lid. Mr. Colin H. Campbell was born in Burlington, Ontario on December 25, 1859. He was called to the Ontario bar in 1881 and the Manitoba bar in 1882. In 1900 he was appointed Attorney-General in the Manitoba Government and remained there until he resigned in ill health in 1913. He died the following year October 24, 1914. Mrs. Minnie J.B. Campbell was born in Palermo, Ontario son of Dr. Anson Buck. She married Colin Campbell in 1884. She had been a member of the Imperial Order of Daughters of the Empire since 1908. She died at the age of 90, having dedicated more than 65 years of her life to social welfare. Mrs. Campbell was the first woman to hold office in the Children’s Aid Society. She graduated from the Wesleyan Women’s college at Hamilton, Ontario. mrs. Campbell was widely known for her efforts in social work, education and philanthropy. She was present at the 1897 Jubilee of Queen Victoria and the coronations of both Kings. An amazing woman, she raised $750,000. in 1914 for the I.O.D.E. and helped to collect $58,000. in scholarship funds for sons and daughters of war veterans. While in Egypt in 1914 she raised $25,000. for a new Y.M.C.A. headquarters. She rolled bandages for soldiers during the second Riel Rebellion. She also helped to operate a home for girls. The Polish Order has some enamel damage on the upper arm of the cross. A lovely case and lots of paperwork including original newspaper articles.
